Carbamide Peroxide Teeth Whitening Product
Our carbamide peroxide teeth whitening product contains professional strength teeth whitening gels which deliver results as quickly as 15 minutes.
Carbamide peroxide, also called urea peroxide, is an oxidizing agent, consisting of hydrogen peroxide compounded with urea. The molecular formula is CH6N2O3, or CH4N2O.H2O2. It is white crystalline material that releases oxygen in contact with water.
This chemical is commonly encountered in cosmetic dentistry, where it is used to "bleach" teeth. The active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide, which acts to oxidize inter-prismatic extrinsic staining within tooth enamel.  There are several methods of applying the peroxide gel to the teeth ranging from self-application to in-surgery application.  The bleaching obtained is proportional to the length of time the peroxide is applied to the teeth, and the concentration used.
How are our Carbamide Peroxide Teeth Whitening Kits different from other teeth whitening kits?
One of the gels we prefer to use is fast-acting 35% Carbamide peroxide in a stabilized pH balanced formula. However, not everyone is a candidate for the 35% strength.  If you are susceptible to sensitivity, we may recommend using a lower strength with longer sessions to provide you with the maximum results, keeping your comfort in mind.
Our kits contain no harmful acids or abrasives to damage your teeth or gums. Teeth whitener products sold over-the-counter in drugstores are under 6% hydrogen peroxide and they will NOT effectively bleach your teeth.
A major breakthrough in oral health care has been brought to the marketplace.
Why Do Teeth Get Dark?
There are many causes. The most common include genetics, aging, consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, red wine, colas, tobacco, tetracycline (antibiotic) staining, excessive fluoride, and old fillings. Teeth whitener toothpaste can remove stain that is on the outside of the teeth. Dentists call this extrinsic staining. However, whitening toothpaste and professional dental cleanings will not change the color or intrinsic staining of the teeth. That is why teeth whitening (sometimes called tooth bleaching), is so popular.
How quickly will I notice results using this teeth whitener?
The 35% Carbamide Peroxide often produces noticeable results after the first application. Teeth lighten substantially after just 2 applications.
How long will my teeth stay white using this teeth whitener?
Many stains bleach out permanently, others last for up to 2 years.  This depends on your lifestyle and genetics.  Your teeth may become stained again due to smoking, red wine, tea, cola etc. But one or two sessions with the Cove will give you back your bright white smile.
Is teeth whitening safe?
YES! “Several studies, during the past five years, have proven bleaching to be safe and effective”. A small percentage of people may experience some tooth sensitivity and gum irritation, which disappears once you stop using the product or by decreasing the amount of time you bleach your teeth. If sensitivity does occur we offer a product which will help relieve the discomfort.  We also recommend that you brush your teeth with Sensodyne toothpaste to help eliminate any sensitivity.
Can teeth whitening hurt my gums?
Over-applying gel along the gum line may cause temporary irritation. With proper use, The Carbamide Peroxide teeth whitening gel will have no impact on your gums. In fact, teeth-whitening sometimes improves gum health.
Will the Cove’s Whitening Products Affect my Crowns or Fillings?
The Cove’s Teeth Whitening gels will have no affect on fillings, crowns or other tooth colored restorations.
If I am pregnant or nursing, can I use this tooth whitener?
There is no known hazard associated with whitening teeth while pregnant or nursing. However, we recommend you consult your physician and/or your dentist if you have any specific questions or concerns.
